International Transport Support

Are you a musician, band, booker, manager, festival organizer, music journalist, ensemble, or artist based in Denmark?

Then you can apply for funding to cover international travel expenses—from Denmark to abroad, from abroad to Denmark, and local transport abroad—for activities that support the music scene within TEMPI’s genre scope.

TEMPI provides financial support for transport within the roots, folk, and related genres.

How it works:

  • Travel from Denmark to abroad, from abroad to Denmark, and local transport abroad.
  • Transport related to activities that promote Danish music abroad or international music in Denmark (concerts, collaborations, networking events, journalistic assignments, management work, studio sessions, etc.).
  • Who can apply: creative and performing artists, music professionals, agents, and others whose travel supports the Danish music scene or Danish music abroad.
  • If your project is split across multiple time periods and is not one continuous tour, we encourage you to submit one application per continuous time period. Multiple applications can be submitted for the same deadline.
  • For private car use, you can apply for funding based on the state travel rate for international driving. This includes fuel and other vehicle costs. The rate for 2024 is DKK 2.23 per kilometer.
For rental cars, you must provide receipts for the rental, rental period, and fuel purchases in your report.
  • Note: Only applicants with a Danish MitID and NemKonto can apply.
  • Hotel accommodation
  • Visa, COVID tests, etc
  • Per diems
  • Study programs
  • Publicly funded basic/special ensembles or institutions
  • Album recordings (e.g., studio rental costs)
  • Marketing and PR
  • Amateur projects

You cannot apply for domestic transport within Denmark (e.g., to/from airports or local tours). That must go through the National Transport Support Scheme, administered by JazzDanmark. You may not apply for international transport support from multiple genre organizations for the same project. You also cannot apply for support for past projects, tours, or concerts. (See section 4 in the application guide below.)

  •
    1. Use the online application form.
    2. First-time applicants must create a user profile.
    3. Applicants must have a Danish CPR/CVR, MitID, and NemKonto.
    4. Applications must be submitted before the project or tour begins. The project may start before the grant deadline, as long as the application was submitted before the project start date.
    5. Responses are typically sent within 4 weeks after the deadline—only written replies are provided.
    6. Budget must be entered directly in the application.
    7. TEMPI’s logo must be used in communication about funded projects. Download the logo here.

The evaluation process places particular emphasis on:

  • The project’s ability to highlight or position Danish music abroad.
  • Whether promotion activities are described and reflected in the budget or through specific meetings, collaborations, or marketing efforts.
  • Local demand, such as professional-level artist fees or the promoter covering travel and accommodation.
  • The artistic quality of the project.
  • Strategic value for the applicant’s career.
  • Efficient use of funds, e.g., through workshops or meetings with international partners, or by organizing a tour rather than a single concert.

All applications are evaluated solely based on the fund’s goals and criteria.

Because TEMPI receives more applications than it can fund, support is not guaranteed. Apply well in advance. You do not need to document bookings when you apply.

Processing:

Applications are reviewed 2–3 weeks after the deadline by TEMPI’s review committee. Applicants typically receive a response within 3–4 weeks. The committee consists of four music professionals within TEMPI’s genre scope:

  • Adam Laugesen
  • MC Hansen
  • Victor West Hosbond
  • Nanna Ruus

The committee is supported by TEMPI’s secretariat.

You’ll receive a grant confirmation letter.

The grant is paid after the project is completed and your report is submitted—no later than one month after the project ends.

The final amount depends on actual travel expenses, within the approved grant total.

All grants are paid only to a NemKonto account.

You’ll receive a rejection letter.

If your project falls under a different genre organization, the letter will state which one. TEMPI will notify the appropriate organization, but it’s your responsibility to apply there.

Your application will be reviewed on equal terms with others in their next round.
If in doubt, contact us before applying.

Funding comes from the Danish Arts Foundation. Some funds are administered by  JazzDanmarkROSAArt Music Denmark, and TEMPI.

These organizations are authorized through agreements with the Danish Arts Foundation’s Project Support Committee for Music.

They work together to ensure good application conditions across all genres.

You may not apply to multiple genre organizations for the same project.
