Credited in KODA magazine as ‘The American who started it all’, Brett Perkins arrived on the Danish music scene in 1997 and immediately began creating opportunities for Danish songwriters to be seen and heard in Listening Room Concert Series settings – a series featured in a two part live P3 broadcast in 1999.

Brett’s also been involved in promoting and presenting Danish artists abroad since the late 90’s through support from ROSA, DAF, DMF, DPA, DJBFA, including Teitur (Nashville), Tina Dico (Nashville, Los Angeles), Simon Lynge (London, Los Angeles, Nashville), Sascha Dupont (Nashville), Esther Borhus (Nashville), Annette Bjergfeldt, Amalie Riis, Nanne-Emelie and many more.

The Listening Room International Songwriting Retreats, Samsø, established in 2002, are now presented annually in five countries including Denmark and Greenland, with past presentations and future events planned for the Faroe Islands.

Founding of the Cph Listening Room Open Stage followed in 2004, now a weekly event transitioned into a forening in 2014.

The Copenhagen Songwriters Festival followed in 2009, transitioned into a forening in 2013, with Brett now heading the Advisory Board.

The Idyllwild Songwriters Festival, founded Southern California in 2018, is also focused on featuring Danish songwriters, many of whom travel to L.A. through DPA co-writing trips originally established via Brett’s extensive network of pro writers.

A DK Nordic Americana Festival is currently planned for 2020.
